Chapter 10

Your heart seemed to stop in a motion of cowardice….

It was over. How could you have been so stupid? If Jack had heard your soft weeps earlier, then what stopped him from hearing you two conversing? The past few visits David had paid, Jack was always cooking or gone, doing things that obscured his sensitive hearing. But today he was here, acting idle.

He’d heard you two. And you two were going to die. It was over! It was —

A rabbit…

You watched the small woodland creature hop out the bushes and compact snow beneath its weight with a crunch like the one you’d heard before.

It felt like weight had fallen off your shoulders and chest. That was close. So, Eyeless Jack must be doing something distracting, if he hadn’t caught on yet. You two needed to be careful. You returned your focus on David, though he was still looking into the darkness of the night-covered forest. You could understand why, for some reason things just didn’t feel right, you felt like you two were being watched….

You brushed it off. Maybe it was just paranoia from the result rabbit…

David seemed to do the same as he turned back to you; when he opened his mouth to speak, the sound of a closing door rang through the icy air. You froze.

Jack was leaving… David grabs snow and moves to the back of the house, using the snow to fill his tracks as he went. He wouldn’t underestimate this beast…

David pulled coat closer to his body. If this thing was as advanced as he thought he was, then he’d have to wait a while for Jack to be out of ear shot...

Thirty minutes should do….

Meanwhile, you sat in your room, enduring the cold. It would be your last time after all. You smiled softly. It was over, the nightmare would be over. Taking in a calming breath, you counted in your head till half an hour had passed…

~x~

It was time.

Your head snapped up and you looked over as David came to stand beside your window. Your eyes locked and you both nodded. You were ready…

TH-THUMP

TH-THUMP.

You placed a hand upon your chest in an attempt to sooth the rapid thuds from within. “Got to the other side of the room,” David whispered. You rolled off your bed and scurried to the farthest corner for cover. David pulled out a special container, and tediously removed the top. He placed a foot before the other and winded the container back; the slosh within its grasp alerted you that it was the acid.

SPLASH!

SSSSSSSH!

You watched the metal hiss at its demise. It melted away, no longer able to deny you your freedom. “hurry, put these on, kid”  He tossed in a pair of your pants, a tank top, a red sweater, panties, boots, and your coat. You nodded and hid from his sight though he turned his back, anyway. You stripped off Jack’s hoodie and tossed it from you. It was disgusting, feeling the dead so close though the fabric. You shivered at the memory and slid on your clothes as fast as possible. You finally pulled on your hat, gloves, and coat. “I’m ready,” you urged. Your eyes constantly looking around, constantly on guard. You were still scared.

“Good, give me your hands, kid,” he extended his gloved hands though the clear window-way. The acid had settled now and was no longer a threat, so, you grasped onto him and with a grunt of effort, the former offender pulled you though the hole.

“Oof!” You fell upon him. Crawling off his body in a flurry of limbs, David stood to his feet. “Let’s go, now” He grabbed you and yanked you along. It wasn’t till you stumbled and almost fell face first into the fluffy mass that you notice it was tainted red….

You looked up and gazed around, your eyes widened. Everything… everything had a murderous red tint to it. The dark leaves had a red sheen, the white snow, even the stars. But it was in the sky that you found the answer to it all: The moon…

It… it was red.

It looked like someone had stabbed it in its back and it had coughed up blood through its craters that spilled over and tainted the white of its once calming surface.

It was unnerving…

Did it mean anything?

“Come on!” David continued to pull you. You nodded and ran forward into the frozen red-black night. This was it.

“Be careful, we’re entering the thicker parts, branches and roots are every—” He warned as the mentioned obstructions disrupted his walking and fell into the snow. The giggle that bubbled up in your throat was hard to suppress. David rubbed his face as he looked back at your rattling form. It wasn’t long before he was chuckling quietly himself. “Ol’ David is still as clumsy as always,” he joked.

You stopped mid-laugh and looked down as David suddenly froze when he stood up. “Da…vid?” You looked at his trembling form, his face was contorted in pain. He must have hurt his back when he fell.

Or at least that’s what you would’ve thought if you weren’t looking dead at the blade protruding out his chest.

“Blade!?”

You stumbled backwards in shock.

That crimson tainted blade, it looked so familiar…

David’s bloody hacking pulled your gaze from the knife to his face. “D-Da…vid?” you were choking on your words. You watched as the reddened blade was ripped from his body, only to penetrate his body from several different points.

Your shoulders didn’t shake, your lungs didn’t breathe, your heart didn’t beat; they were too scared of attracting attention. The only movement you made was the subtle flinch when crimson splattered across your face, matching you to the back ground. It was then that insane laughter tore through the air and momentary tranquility. “no….” your lips quivered.

It was over; Jack had smelt your boldness and was looking to snuff it out. Snuff David out. He was probably going to eat David in front of you as a punishment for your foolish rebellion. It was then you noticed. While the blade was familiar, that laughter wasn’t at all. Jack was normally dark and bone chilling. This one was closer to  stabbing cackle. The hand that grasped David’s collar wasn’t the usual grey and its fingers possessed no claws.

No. Instead the skin was as white as a corpse with short, jagged nails that now had blood underneath them. The laughed refreshed but it was interrupted, “David!?? Your name’s David!!? HAHAHEE! That’s such a stupid name! Someone like you deserves to Go To Sleep. HAHEE!” You took a step back as the man stepped to stand beside the dying David. His long, Black hair was greasy enough to pick up the red sheen the moon offered, His eyes so dilated to do the same. His teeth were slightly yellowed and exposed by angled cuts in his white cheeks. He pulled David’s face closer to his own, pressing their foreheads together as to watch the very last fleck of light escape them.

His eyes were so wide and crazed; when he turned his gaze to you, you noticed he actually didn’t have eyelids, only bits of burnt flesh that surrounded them. It was surreal, like a horror movie.

“Hi there, Slender didn’t mention a girl. No problem~!” He cackled softly. You shook your head; this man was what you were trying to avoid becoming…

Insane…

A killer…

“no..” all your words had to escape mentally, your lips refused to move. You watched the tall man’s chest heave in pure excitement behind the fabric of his crimson splattered, white hoodie. “What a Fucking rush! It’s always exciting to catch them by surprise!” he boasted. “Though I still prefer it when they see me, then… I get to hear them scream” his tone shifted to match the icy wind.

He wasn’t real, he couldn’t be. “N-No!” you squeaked out. The emotion that grasped you and widened your eyes… it was fear. But it was different from Jack. This one triggered self-preservation. This one tensed the muscles in your legs. This one made you run away…

A devious cackle followed you as you plunged into the forbidden night.

You couldn’t let him get you!

You couldn’t.

“RUN!....run! HAHAAH! Stay away as long as you can!!” You heard him call out after you. This was a forest and it was night, your odds of escaping were pretty high. But so were the odds of you getting lost.

That was a risk you were going to take…

You thrashed through the thickening vegetation. You were effectively dodging branches and roots. You had to get away.

“Come on little girl run faster! HAHAHA!... I can already see you!!” You glanced behind you, you didn’t see him. Could he really see you?

TH-THUMP!

TH-THUMP!

TH-THUMP!

Your blood pumped so loudly in your ears, but you could still hear him. He was like the opposite of Jack. Jack was so silent, while this guy was so loud. However he seemed to have the speed to make up for it. He was catching up fast, you could hear him!

Crunch!

CRunch!

CRUNch!

CRUNCH!

CRUNCH!

You looked behind you again. That was another thing he seemed to be different with.  Jack naturally could stay out of sight in dark back grounds, but this guy… He was so white… yet it seemed to be a mere shadow upon the red trees.

“But he sounds so close!”

Your adrenaline was wearing away, the burning in your lungs were starting to get to you. Your underused legs were starting to get to you.

You ducked behind the thickest trunk in sight and attempted to get your air back.

CRUNCH!!

Your breathing halted. He was too close.

“I have to say, you’re far more entertaining than that man, what was his name? David?” he chuckled at the mention, “He was so easy, didn’t even put up much of a fight,”

Your eyes widened as the sight of the impaled, bloody David tormented your third eye. You shook your head frantically, but it stayed put. And it riled up those voices.

He killed David!

He killed David!

Kill him!

Kill HIM!

They were right. He took away the closest thing to family you’d ever had. Sure, he was what had taken away the family, but at least he had tried to replace it. Your nails scrapped against the rigid bark of the tree behind you. The pain only fueled your craving for vengeance. Your vision was blurred, but you could see and hear the white-clad male step in front of you, “Peak-a-boo~” he chuckled. He swung his head to the side to toss his hair out his sight. “I’m going to Kill you

Your eyebrows were drawn downward in a furious frown. Your chest heaved under your coat. If you were going to die, you were going to take this man with you. But he was fast.

As soon as you wiped your tears from your eyes, His knife had plunged inch deep into the tree and a centimeter deep into the skin of your cheek. His hand slammed onto the tree next to your head, trapping you between him and the tree.

“Ohhh~!” his cut grin gained a more jovial edge to it. “I like that fire in your eyes~!” a growl rolled out your throat.  And you glanced at that knife once more. Now you remembered it… It was like the one you’d found in your room…

The man chuckled at you, and it pissed you off. You hated his voice now. How dare he laugh at your pain?! No one knew how you felt or what you’d been through.

BAM!

You shot your head forward and slammed it into his own. If possible, his eyes widened, or at least showed a gleam of shock. There was something behind that thick layer of insanity….

Calculation…

He wasn’t mindless and random, he was planning things. His dark euphoria seemed to spike as he pressed his forehead closer towards yours. Blood ran down both your noses, who it belonged to was unclear, but you really didn’t care.

“Fuck you!”

BAM!

You slammed your elbow into his mouth and couldn’t help the sick pleasure you got when he pulled his knife away from your bleeding cheek and took a step back…

Then he chuckled again.

“Oh I like you, little lady, smaller than me, but pack a hell of a punch. But you also can’t fool me, I see it in your eyes, you’re on the brink of insanity. Don’t worry, it adds to your attractiveness; if you can land another blow, I’ll give you a fucking cookie~ how’s that sound?” He positioned his knife, prepared to take the offensive.

You just didn’t understand this guy! He was loud, but furtive; insane, yet methodical; eager, yet observant. He also was after your physical health, the health Jack tried so hard to protect.

~x~

Blood….

Jack paused in his feast. He placed the spline down beside the 7 year old boy body that it once belonged to. It was your blood…

He could tell!

It was like a crack-addict could smell the drug from a literal mile away. It was maddening, it flooded his senses.

It summoned him…

He growled darkly. Why ever you were bleeding, he was going to put it to a permanent end…

He moved to higher ground and made his way into the woods.

~x~

“I’m really starting to like you,” The maniac cackled. “What’s your name?” he tilted your head up and pressed his blade to your throat. He had you pinned. Your arms were pinned beneath his knees and your legs were underneath his ankles. His free hand was around your throat and the other debated where to place delicate, crimson decorations. Your frown was hard and unwavering, never before had you been so unafraid of death. You refused to answer his question.

He noticed your silence and gave a dark growl, nicking your cheek again. Then he chuckled, “See, that’s why I like you…” he grinned again. “You have such a fire in your eye, warms me up on cold days like these, that physical fight you got in you isn’t bad either. But what I like most of all is your skin” he chuckled once more. “It cuts so easily under my blade. It shows that, deep inside, you’re broken, and you’re being tempted by the amusement part of insanity… I tell you what…” He moved any hair from your ear and leaned down with his mouth beside it. “There are plenty of rides here, you should come join us,” He then started his cackles anew. “Admission is free!” You looked towards the trees, finding them far more exciting than the man before you.

“Bitch, look at me when I’m talking to you!” He snatched you from under him and slammed your back into a large bolder that had been nearby. With a wince and a snarl, you gave him some of your attention. He brightened up at this, “Now what’s your name?”

You still refused him. “Fine, I’ll go first~” he gave a shrug. “I’m Jeffery Woods, the killer, more commonly known as Jeff the killer,” You couldn’t stop your eyes from widening. You couldn’t stop your blood from chilling within your veins. You vaguely remember the carvings on the knife back at the room “J.T.K” It really was his knife.

That meant this guy and Jack had to have some sort of ties.

Was Jack this insane…?

“Well, I liked you and wanted to know your name to remember you by, but I’ll deal with a lock of hair~” He lapped up a layer of blood from his blade, “Sleep tight,” He rose his hand up and marked his target with his eyes: your chest.

CLANG!!

You slowly opened your eyes to see a familiar grey hand clutched a scalpel that was colliding with Jeff’s knife. Simultaneously, they released a feral growl. They were like alpha wolves battling for meat.

Jeff couldn’t help but drop his ferocity first for a darker euphoria. “Long time no see, Eyeless apple Jacks,” Jack gained a slight advantage in their struggle, pressing the blades closer to Jeff’s person. “Don’t you touch her… She’s dessert, my dessert,” he clarified. “My kill,” Jeff huffs but planted his dirty black boots on the bolder on either side of your hips and back flipped away from you to stand a little ways away. “Sorry, I didn’t know,” he gave a small shrug. You looked up and saw Jack switch his scalpel to his right hand and grabbed you with his left since he was to your right.

Come on” He growled at you. But you did something you never thought you’d do.

You resisted his hold. He looked at you and yanked you forward so you stumbled forth. Jack then looked to a chuckling Jeff. Jeff looked up between locks of thick, black hair. “I like this girl, too bad she’s dying soon, what’s her name?” His eyes moved from Jack to you with a flicker of interest. Jack began dragging back to your tomb. You dug you heels into the ground and transferred you weight to your feet, anything to slow his progress.

But Jack was stronger than a human; your efforts didn’t deter his movement what-so-ever. But there was one thing.. There was something wet and sticky on his hands…

It took a break in the tree tops to let the red moon glare down and catch the substance in question.

Blood. It was someone else’s blood…

The fear in your chest, however, was short lived. It melted away into more rage and you tried using it to your advantage to rip your hand free. He merely tightened his grip and ignored your growl in protest.

As he walked, Jeff fell into tempo besides him. “(Y/n)” He stated conversationally. The earlier animosity seemingly forgotten.

Jeff nodded in thought “(Y/n), huh? Not as bad as David,” he chuckled again. Jeff seemed to perk at the name.

“Does he…?” you wondered.

Jeff seemed to notice the shift in interest, too. “Do you know him?” he raises a mound of skin. He had no eyebrows, but the muscle movement was clear. Jack spoke again. “I saw a news Article the other day… It mentioned (Y/n) and how her guardian, David, noticed her disappearance,” he spoke. You’d never heard Jack talk so causally or for so long…

It was weird.

“Well, you really need to work on your powers of perception Eyeless Jack, cause according to the Slenderman, He’s been entering Slender woods and visiting your place for the past month or so. I take it he was talking to little (y/n)~” he chuckles. Jack’s grip only seemed to tighten. He was angry.

“Slender knew I was heading out here soon, so he asked me to take care of the little problem for him,” he chuckled quietly. Jack ‘looked’ at Jeff, “Where?” and so he the eyeless male…

When you arrived, you were met with a disgusting stench, David was already beginning to deteriorate… Jack tilted his head, “Grab the bag,” he ordered Jeff. Jeff looked like he was frowning, “Bitch, Don’t tell me what the fuck to do,” he growled.  Nonetheless, he went over and ripped the bag from the dead body.

Jack then turned, but you roughly pulled yourself back, “No! Bury him!” you ordered.

Jack looked at you for one moment. Then the next he hand you by your collar, with the rough edges of bark prickling in your back and your feet 4 feet off the ground. There was nothing but silence. Jeff rolled his eyes, “Kill her later, it’s fucking freezing out here,” he grunted. Jack didn’t move, and for a second you thought he wouldn’t.

You thought he was going to continue to stare at you with those black holes while you glared back at him.

Then he pulled you down and went back to dragging you along.

You were forced to watch David’s mangled figure disappear in the darkness. The red hue had over taken him now and danced upon the blood puddles like figure skaters across ice.

“Good bye…” you whispered into the red night…

~x~

Jack threw open his front door. Jeff sighed happily, “Finally!” He kicked off his boots and headed down hall and stopped at your door, unlocking it and entering. Then he emerged back out. “What the hell!? You let your fucking food stay in my room?” Jack looked at him as he locked his front doors. “It’s only your room when you come to crash,” He stated and pulled you towards a familiar place:

The Freezer…

Your eyes widened as he ripped your coat open and tossed it on the ground. You tried pushing him off but as usual you were powerless. He opened the freezer door and shut it behind him.

He proceeded to rip through your sweater and tank top. It was so dark you couldn’t aim right. Jack then pushed you back onto something hard and flat and yanked off your pants. You kicked at him but didn’t feel him budge in the slightest.

“Get off of me!” you growled.

CLICK!

You hadn’t noticed Jack had left you, but he had and he’d turned on the lights. You looked around. It was just as you remembered it...

Except for the large table in the center.

It was wide with a glossy wood finished top. It’s what you’d been thrown on. Jack’s sleeves were rolled up to his forearms and his mask was off. His expression showed a of mixture of confusion..

He was going to cut you up.

Jack went to you and grasped your hand, locking it in a shackle before you knew what was happening. His inhuman strength allowed him to do the same for your other limbs with little to no trouble.

You watched as he went and grabbed a knife of sorts. Its blade was 6 inches long, 4 inches wide, and had a rectangular shape. It was sharp.

Sharp enough to cut through bone…

But for whatever reason, you weren’t scared….

Jack stood to your right, facing you. He placed a hand upon your shackled wrist and the positioned the blade to above you forearms.

This was it. It was your time to die….

And you were ready.

He gazed at your face and added a curious tilt as he ripped the blade closer.

SHKHH!

The metal sliced through an inch of muscle and tissues. Your blood curdling screech in response was heart stopping.

It made Jack pause….

Something wasn’t right…

Jack had stopped to revel in your screams. But they were… wrong. They weren’t screams of horror, fear, or pain. No, these were screams of a sort of relief, or anger. That wasn’t right…

Why was it so out of place? Why did it stop him from killing you? He yanked the blade from your split flesh and left the room to retrieve his medical supplies. When he returned, he began patching you up.

It was confusing to you. It didn’t make sense. The voices in your head were just as confused. You didn’t understand!

When he’d finished, he grasped you by your arms and yanked you out the room. He led you to Jeff’s room, your old room, and almost tore open the door.

He was upset, and he wasn’t sure why.

Jeff was relaxing on the bed, head inclined upon the back board, his white hoodie tossed carelessly on the ground, leaving him in his black muscle shirt.

“Jeff, go sleep on the couch,” Jack ordered, a growl barely masked by his words. “What!?” He sat up from his position and stabbed his knife into the back board. “Fuck no!” You could feel Jack’s nails digging into your skin.

You then noticed how warm it was in here. How did he..? Oh, he’d folded a sheet several times and duct taped onto the window to block out wind…

Good idea.

Jack, “I need here to be in here,” Jeff crossed his arms, “Hell no! Your couch isn’t comfortable at all, and I’m not giving up my bed for a piece of meat!” Jack shook his head, “You’re the only one I know who demands of things when he’s a house guest,” he muttered. Jeff shrugged, “I’m special then, now get the fuck out my room and let her sleep on the pile of bricks out there!” Jack could feel his flames getting too high.

“There are too many thing she could get into in there, don’t like it? Get out of my house,” Jack stated, rather evenly.

Jeff laid back down and turned his back to you “I aint moving! Cuff the bitch! Have the bitch stay in your room! I don’t know, but she can’t stay in here” Jack was rubbing his temple to relieve stress.

“No!” you snapped and resumed pulling yourself free. You weren’t staying in its room.

Simultaneously, Jack and Jeff turned to look at you. Jack slammed your back into the hard wall. He pinned the arm he already had in his clutches to the wall, his free hand trapped your chin between his thumb and the knuckle of his index finger. He examined your features.

TH-THUMP

TH-THUMP…

There was a distinct fire in those eyes with smoke that almost spelled out “You killed David” It made him grimace. He knew what was wrong. You were standing your ground. You had run from him, and now you were openly opposing him.

It pissed him off.

It pissed him the fuck off.

All that time he spent basting you in your fear—Wasted! All that money, and time it took to collect said money, down the drain! He wouldn't let it happen though. He'd find a way... He'd shove your new found bravery into that cocoon of submissive fear you use to be.
